LAS VEGAS -- Board members for the Clark County School District voted 6-1 Wednesday morning to table taking any action to contract with a firm to find a new superintendent.
Former superintendent Dwight Jones resigned last month and the board named Pat Skorkowsky as interim superintendent until a permanent replacement is found.
Some school board members said they were not ready to move forward with hiring a firm to do a nationwide search. Those members said they were hearing from teachers and parents that Skorkowsky could be a good choice to permanently take over the job.
Trustee Linda Young cast the lone dissenting vote Wednesday.
The board will meet May 20 to decide whether to conduct a national search. A series of community meetings will be held April 9 to May 16.
