LAS VEGAS -- A 17-year-old boy who died Monday evening after being hit by a semitrailer on Spring Mountain Road has been identified as Alexis Gomez-Bautista by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Gomez-Bautista was attempting to cross Spring Mountain at Wynn Road, Metro Police Sgt. Richard Strader said.

The teen, who was wearing earbuds at the time, was hit by the rear of the tractor-trailer, Strader said. He added that Gomez-Bautista probably did not hear the semitrailer, which is owned by Freeman Trucking.

Gomez-Bautista was taken to University Medical Center, where he died.

Strader said it is unclear who is at fault.

Westbound Spring Mountain Road was closed between Valley View and Wynn roads as Metro Police investigated.
