HENDERSON, Nev. -- U.S. 95 southbound at Auto Show Drive is now open to traffic following a fatal crash early Tuesday morning.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol, a Fiat was traveling in the wrong direction along southbound U.S. 95 when it collided head-on with a Mazda. Troopers say witnesses saw the car driving north in the southbound lanes for several miles, and troopers tried to get the driver's attention before the crash.

The male driver of the Fiat died at the scene. The male driver of the Mazda was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

Several lanes of southbound U.S. 95 were closed while NHP investigated.
