HENDERSON, Nev. -- Henderson Police are investigating an attempted abduction of a 6-year-old girl.
According to police, the incident happened at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Mountain View Park on Wigwam Parkway.
The victim was playing near the ball fields while her father was coaching nearby. The girl had used the restrooms at the park and was walking out, when she was confronted by a man. He spoke to her then grabbed her and tried cover her mouth with his hand, police said.
The girl was able to scream. The man let her go and ran from the area. The victim was not seriously hurt.
The man had been seen hanging around the park before the incident happened. He is described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s. He is 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 and weighs 190 to 250 pounds. He has short blond hair and green or blue eyes.
He was last seen wearing a short sleeve, checked shirt, brown pants and gray tennis shoes with blue lines. He was seen leaving in a two-door, faded-red, older-model Volkswagen. It may have been a Volkswagen Golf.
