LAS VEGAS - Lori Shoup has built relationships across the valley. She volunteers her time and money to several charities, including St Jude's Ranch, CP Squires Elementary School, Catholic Charities and the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

"To just see that gratitude, and get the hugs, and the relief, and build the relationships, that's huge," she said.

In addition to the hours of volunteering she does, Shoup gets her friends, family and co-workers involved.

"Lori's the one always carrying the flag, waving the banner, getting everyone rallied and fired up to do these types of things," said Texas Station Vice President Michael Jerlecki.

Whether it's collecting food for needy pets, feeding the homeless a hot meal or making sure underprivileged children are warm in the winter, Shoup's efforts are inspirational.

"At the school, the kids love her," said Shoup's colleague Joseph Hernandez. "The staff and all the organizations she helped, like CPS and Saint Jude's, they just gravitate towards her because of her energy and heart."

"She always goes the extra mile every single time," he said.

8 News NOW decided it was time to reward Lori Shoup for her efforts – awarding her $800 as part of its weekly series Acts of Kindness.

"(I) never expected to benefit from this other than getting back the smiles and appreciation from the community," she said. "Thank you. It's nice to be noticed. Thank you."
