LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A partner in a prominent Las Vegas law firm has been confirmed by the Senate for a lifetime appointment as federal court judge in Nevada.
Andrew Patrick Gordon was hailed by both Nevada U.S. senators, Democrat Harry Reid and Republican Dean Heller, as a good choice for the U.S. District Court post.
Gordon is a Harvard Law School graduate and has been a partner since 1997 in the law firm of McDonald Carano Wilson, handling complex commercial disputes.
Reid told the Senate that Gordon also focuses on alternative conflict resolution, regularly serves as an arbitrator and mediator, and has performed pro bono work including adoption and death row appeal cases.
Wilson's confirmation comes after Clark County District Court Judge Elissa Cadish withdrew her name from nomination last week.
