LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police's Traffic Bureau will be conducting special traffic enforcement operations at intersections throughout the Las Vegas Valley, the department announced Monday.
The enforcement is already underway and will continue through May 22. According to police, officers will be stationed at intersections with the most crashes, including Charleston and Lamb boulevards, and Decatur Boulevard and Flamingo Road.
Officers will be looking for drivers who are speeding, disregarding traffic control devices, failing to yield the right of way, failing to maintain lanes, using cell phones, driving while distracted and driving under the influence.
The goals of the special enforcement are to raise awareness of the jump in traffic-related deaths and reduce the number of car accidents.
