Embattled Lawmaker Fired by City of Las Vegas

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- The city of Las Vegas announced Monday that embattled Nevada Assembly Steve Brooks is no longer an employee at the city.

Brooks worked as a management analyst in the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department.

In its statement, the city said it would not elaborate further on his separation from the organization, which is a standard practice for personnel matters.

Brooks' attorney, Mitchell Posin, calls the termination "premature."

Brooks is facing several charges, including domestic violence and assaulting a police officer. Lawmakers banned Brooks from the capitol building while they investigate what they called bizarre behavior.

He was elected for a second term in November.
