One Dead in I-15 Crash

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on southbound Interstate 15 at Cheyenne Avenue.

According to NHP, the crash involving a Volkswagen and a tractor trailer happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday. They say a 31-year-old woman died in the crash.

The crash caused major delays along the freeway because of traffic from the NASCAR race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Metro Police and Nevada Highway Patrol advised people still at the speedway to stay in the parking lot and await instructions from officers.

The crash scene took several hours to clean.

NHP says alcohol may have been a factor in this deadly accident.
