Traffic Patrol Stepped Up During NASCAR Weekend

Posted: Updated:

Nevada Highway Patrol will be increasing the number of troopers by about thirty at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend.

"The main thing is for drivers to definitely pay attention to the way the road way markers are because that is going to direct them in the easiest way out there," said Trooper Loy Hixson with NHP.

Electronic billboards and plenty of orange cones will be up to help drivers find their way into the Speedway.

Las Vegas has been hosting NASCAR for years and have a good understanding of the traffic patterns.

Some of the fans we spoke with said they didn't have any problems with congestion in the area.

"It was well organized this year," said Heinz Schultz.

NHP is also keeping an eye out for drunk drivers. Last year, troopers wrote a handful of citations for DUI.
