LAS VEGAS -- A fire that heavily damaged a house on the 3100 block of Ocean Port Drive is under investigation by Las Vegas Fire investigators.
One occupant of the house was taken to the hospital after they jumped from an upstairs window. The teen was taken to a nearby hospital and checked out for any injuries.
Fire dispatchers received numerous calls at 5:42 p.m. that a house had heavy black smoke coming from it as well as a sofa being on fire in the family room.
When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and flames were showing as it took firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.
Fire investigators believe the fire started in the family room around the sofa.
The cause remains under investigation. Damage from the fire is estimated at $150,000.
