LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County School District announced Friday that three schools in the southwest part of the Las Vegas valley will be year-round schools for the 2013-2014 school year.
Superintendent Dwight Jones made the decision as part of an effort to relieve overcrowding.
The schools that will be switched from nine month to year-round are Forbuss, Reedom and Wright elementary schools.
The schools were originally designed to hold about 800 students, but the district says enrollment in each school is now at nearly 1,300 because of expanding housing development in the area.
The school board will look at rezoning for the same area at a board meeting set for March 6.
