LAS VEGAS -- Video from a taxi cab taken during the early morning hours of Feb. 21 show the deadly confrontation between murder suspect Ammar Harris and Kenneth Cherry Jr., who was shot to death not long afterwards, according to a police arrest warrant.
The cab was following behind Cherry in his Maserati as both departed the Aria casino.
The cab's surveillance video camera shows Harris, while driving his Range Rover, pull in front of the Maserati and cab, roll down his window and start yelling at Cherry.
The cab driver said Cherry then rolled down his window and there was a quick talk between Cherry and the driver of the SUV.
The video then shows the Range Rover and Maserati turning north onto Las Vegas Boulevard from Harmon Avenue. While driving through the Bellagio Drive intersection, the Range Rover is seen cutting over into the Maserati's lane, forcing Cherry to brake and move into the next lane. Once the Range Rover was next to the Maserati, a gunshot was fired. The Range Rover then sped up and the Maserati appeared to be driving after the Range Rover.
About nine seconds later, the two cars sped toward the Flamingo Road intersection and as they approached the intersection, two gunshots were recorded on the cab's video. A few seconds later, three more gunshots were heard.
The Maserati then ran a red light at Flamingo Road, hitting a taxi cab driven by Michael Boldon. The cab exploded, killing Boldon and his passenger, Sandra Sutton-Wasmund.
Several other cars were hit, causing injuries to the occupants.
According to the report, the first shot that was fired hit Cherry in the chest. After he was shot, he lost consciousness before entering the Flamingo intersection. He later died at University Medical Center. His passenger, who survived, had been shot in the arm.
