LAS VEGAS -- A week after a deadly shooting and car crash on the Las Vegas Strip, triple murder suspect Ammar Harris was arrested in Los Angeles.

Las Vegas police Capt. Chris Jones said Ammar Harris was arrested Thursday by the Las Angeles based Criminal Apprehension Team in North Hollywood. Harris will be held at the Los Angeles Police Department's Metro Detention Center to await extradition.

Police have been searching for Harris since last Thursday. According to police, Harris fired shots from his black Range Rover at 27-year-old Kenneth Cherry Jr. as the two were driving in separate vehicles on the Las Vegas Strip. Cherry was struck by gunfire and killed. His Maserati crashed into other vehicles, including a taxi cab which exploded, killing 62-year-old Michael Boldon and his passenger Sandra Sutton-Wasmund.

Late Wednesday, police found SUV passenger Tineesha Lashun Howard in another state, and Las Vegas police Capt. Chris Jones said for the first time that police previously found and interviewed two other women who were with Howard in Harris' black Range Rover SUV during the shooting.

According to the criminal complaint filed by the state of Nevada, Harris is facing several charges, including three counts of murder with the use of a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm at or into a vehicle and discharging a firearm out of a motor vehicle.

He is also facing a charge of attempted murder for the passenger riding in the car with Cherry when he was shot and crashed his car. The passenger was identified in the criminal complaint as Freddy Walters.

According to law enforcement, Harris has an extensive criminal history including arrests for robbery, sexual assault and kidnapping.

At 4 p.m., Metro Sheriff Doug Gillespie will hold a news conference. 8 News NOW will carry the news conference live on Channel 8 and 8NewsNOW.com.
