HENDERSON, Nev. - A viewer wants to know why there is only a single left turn lane from Marks Street on to Galleria Drive, when two lanes are needed and readily available.
Traffic8 covered the Galleria/Marks inter-connect opening in December 2009. A What's Driving You Crazy segment in early 2010 also helped get a traffic light built there.
The turn lane presents a new problem at the intersection north of Costco Warehouse and near the Galleria Mall.
City officials say a single left turn lane from northbound Marks street to westbound Galleria was sufficient for traffic when the intersection was constructed three years ago. The intersection already includes a second left turn lane that is currently blocked from traffic, but can be opened if city officials choose to do so.
Engineers are revisiting the intersection. They will perform a traffic count and determine if dual left turn lanes are now needed. It will take months to collect and analyze the data. Traffic8 will monitor the study's progress.
