Driving You Crazy: Broken Road Between Decatur & Jones

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS - A viewer asks if Sunset Road will ever connect from Decatur Boulevard to Jones Boulevard.

Sunset is broken by a large stretch of undeveloped land between Decatur and Jones. Crews eventually plan to pave Sunset Road – connecting the two roads, but some viewers might have gray hair by the time that happens.

Construction and improvements of Sunset are on the Regional Transportation Commission plan for 2017-2020. This means, depending on when or if funding is approved, the design of the project could be funded as early as 2017 or as late as 2020. That means the project is probably close to 10 years away from completion.

Undeveloped land also prevents Sunset from connecting between Decatur and Valley View Boulevard. This stretch of Sunset will become a paved road much sooner, however.

Construction of Sunset over Union Pacific Railroad, as well as drainage for the area around and under the bridge will be accomplished with the installation of a new gravity storm drain system and a road that connects Decatur and Valley View. This will be done by June.
