LAS VEGAS -- Troubled Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks is barred from buying a gun for at least one year, according to the Nevada Department of Public Safety.

Brooks attempted to purchase a rifle from a Reno area store Thursday night. This comes a few weeks after he was arrested for making threats against Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick and a separate case of domestic battery.

Brooks has maintained his innocence during interviews with the I-Team
