LAS VEGAS -- Two men are facing attempted murder charges after allegedly attacking a couple in an elevator at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. The husband suffered stab wounds.
Trent Wilcox, 25, and Carlos Heredia-Avalos, 23, were arrested early Saturday morning.
Eric Miller and his wife, Diane Androvich, told police they were on their way to their hotel room around 2 a.m. when the two men, who appeared drunk, entered the elevator. When the elevator stopped at the 31st floor the men got out of the elevator. According to the arrest report, Heredia-Avalos turned and used his foot to hold the doors open and pulled out a knife. Androvich said she attempted to push the men away but Wilcox grabbed her husband and pushed him to the floor.
Heredia-Avalos stabbed Miller at least 10 times to the left side of his arm and chest, the report said. Androvich pressed the emergency button and hotel security officers responded and arrested the men.
Miller was taken to University Medical Center for treatment. Wilcox was also transported to the hospital. Police said, while Heredia-Avalos was stabbing Miller, he also inadvertently stabbed Wilcox and injured himself with the knife.
