Red Cross, Firefighters Team Up for Campaign

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS - The Red Cross of Southern Nevada is teaming with the Professional Firefighters of Nevada for a campaign called "Fire Hurts, Red Cross Helps".

The campaign explains how the Red Cross helps people who have lost their homes due to fires.

"Every day, we respond to devastating house fires," said Scott Gorgon with Professional Firefighters of Nevada. "Once that fire is out, the Red Cross is there."

The campaign features ads that also remind the public the Red Cross is a non-profit organization and relies on public donations to survive.

"This year, our goal is $300,000, and we're well on our way. We're about $160,000 now, and we just started the campaign in January. They'll go through all that money this year providing service to our southern Nevada fire victims," Gorgon said.

All of the money donated in southern Nevada will be used locally.
