LAS VEGAS - A viewer wants to know why there are no speed limit signs on southbound I-15 from Sahara Avenue to the Las Vegas Beltway.
The speed limit is 65 miles per hour, regardless of how many or how few speed limit signs are posted.
In the past, when speed limit signs were missing along northbound I-15, the Nevada Department of Transportation said it was due to various construction contracts, as well as accidents damaging or knocking out signs.
There are now plenty of speed limit signs in northbound lanes, but southbound I-15 doesn't have any between Spring Mountain Road and the Las Vegas Beltway.
NDOT officials say they sent safety engineers to look at the problem. They're determining if those in charge of Design Build South construction have completely handed over maintenance to NDOT, now that the project is done.
Officials say it's very likely NDOT will install signs on I-15 southbound between Sahara and the Las Vegas Beltway once that is confirmed.
