LAS VEGAS -- The man who police said was to be arrested in the shooting deaths of three family members last week has died, Metro Police confirmed.
James McCarty, 54, had shot himself in the head after shooting to death Bonnie Lee Scherrer, 38, and Robert John Scherrer, 41, according to police. The identity of the second woman shot to death has not yet been confirmed. The family dog was also killed.
McCarty was receiving treatment at University Medical Center and the police had said they would arrest him in absentia and charge him with three counts of murder with a deadly weapon.
