LAS VEGAS -- The Metro Police officer who shot a bank robbery suspect has been identified as 29-year-old James Larosa.
The shooting took place on Saturday, Feb. 2 in the backyard of a home in the 2600 block of Buffalo Drive. The suspect, who police have identified as 40-year-old Tamas Horvath of North Hills, California, was fleeing police. Police said, Horvath broke into two homes, firing a shot in the first one and getting shot at by the homeowner in the second home.
Police say the suspect fled into the home's backyard and pointed his gun at officers before he was shot. Horvath suffered non life-threatening injuries. He is now facing several charges including attempted murder with a deadly weapon, attempted burglary with a deadly weapon, invading a home with deadly force, resisting an officer with a weapon.
Officer Larosa has been with Metro since Aug. 2008. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending a review of the shooting.
