LAS VEGAS - Super Bowl fans have a chance to help NFL history live on. A company called Repurposing NOLA, Piece by Peace is turning big game banners into chic new products.
The founder is a designer by trade who wanted to give back to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Traci Claussen had a vision to keep all those huge banners and signs out of the landfill after Super BowlXLIV.
After the Saints claimed victory in 2010, Traci had an eco-brilliant idea to help keep the winning feeling alive for her home town of New Orleans. She found a fashionably chic way to turn the tens of thousands of feet of perfectly reusable banner materials into collectibles for football fans everywhere.
The ideas have been endless - from board shorts, to duvet covers, to travel pillows and even dresses. Other hot sellers include a tailgate apron that sells for $60 and an eco-sport bag for $195.
Fifteen percent of her proceeds went to the Super Bowl host committee to make this year's Super Bowl more environmentally friendly. Proceeds also go toward the New Orleans Sports Foundation.
Traci is waiting to acquire the banners from Super Bowl XLVII and start working on the next series of repurposed products.
