Metro Officer Shoots Bank Robbery Suspect

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police shot a bank robbery suspect in the backyard of a home after he pointed a gun at officers, police said.

Metro officers received a call of an armed bank robbery around 1 p.m. Saturday.

The male suspect fled into a neighborhood near Buffalo Drive and Laredo Street and broke into a house. According to investigators, the suspect fired his gun inside the home but didn't strike anyone.

Police say, the suspect left the home and broke into a second home, where the homeowner had a gun and fired at the suspect. After exiting the second home, the suspect ran into the backyard, where officers say he pointed his gun at them. An officer fired his weapon, striking the man. The suspect was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The area near Buffalo Drive, Laredo Street and Tioga Way were shut down for several hours.

No officers were injured.
