LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police detectives have arrested a minor in the case of stolen animals from pet stores in the Las Vegas valley this past week.

The minor's identity is not being revealed because they are under age 18.

According to police, the minor was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts to possession of stolen property.

Puppies, Birds Stolen in Pet Shop Heists

Police were contacted by a woman on Friday who told them that her husband had bought two exotic birds from an unknown male. Detectives later learned that three exotic birds – not two – were bought from the unknown male. Those birds have been returned to their owner.

Several animals that were stolen are still missing and detectives are asking for the public's help in finding them. The animals are:

• a white French bulldog puppy

• a gray Schnauzer puppy

• a black Yorkshire terrier puppy

• a yellow and orange macaw

• three bearded dragon reptiles

Following the arrest, detectives were notified that a person returned two Siberian huskies taken during a separate theft.

Detectives are trying to find a person of interest identified as Juan Carlos Vasquez, 23. He is described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s.
