LAS VEGAS -- The recent string of bizarre behavior from Assemblyman Steven Brooks has been building for months according to his neighbors.
A shouting match between Brooks and his neighbors was caught on tape.
"I don't under stand why you acting like a kid, go on dude. It's cool though," said one neighbor. "You start messing for no reason, right? You won't be laughing after this."
The video was reportedly taken on January 4th as it shows Brooks pointing at people who live across from him on Delighted Avenue in North Las Vegas.
Multiple neighbors claim the confrontation was over his wife's car being vandalized with the incident ending with police getting involved.
Deirdre Williams said it was her son that took the cell phone video as Brooks had been threatening her family. She took out a restraining order and filed police reports dating back to November of last year.
Brooks and other neighbors told the I-Team the feud went both ways.
"The police just told him to shut up, instead of throwing him in jail, they just told him to be quiet, and to make sure everything he was saying to put in the paperwork," Williams said. "He's talking about gang bangers and all this stuff; I guess he was pertaining to us, no body at my house gang bangs."
Assemblyman Brooks told the I-Team he felt threatened by gang violence and moved out of his home shortly after the video was taken. Brooks and other neighbors said the feud went both ways.
The legislative session starts on February 4th and it's unclear how the felony case against Brooks will interfere with his duties in Carson City.
