HENDERSON, Nev. - A viewer wants to know why there is no right turn lane from eastbound Volunteer Boulevard to southbound Via Inspirada.
Several cars wait at the stop light to turn right from Volunteer to Via Inspirada. Clearly, a right turn lane would relieve this. Henderson officials agree.
This wasn't an oversight. The predicament involves the land, which isn't owned by the City of Henderson. It's a largely undeveloped area, so the city doesn't have the right to construct a right-turn only lane.
City officials have to acquire property from the land owner, but weren't able to get those rights when Volunteer was widened. Funding that financed the project had construction schedule requirements. That didn't allow the time it would take to buy the property.
Henderson is looking to acquire the right-of-way with future roadway construction money.
