LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Nevada lawmaker is free from jail following his arrest on suspicion of threatening to harm a state Assembly party leader at a home in North Las Vegas.

Police officer Chrissie Coon says Democratic Assemblyman Steven Brooks was released from the Las Vegas city jail late Sunday. Coon says a judge set bail at $100,000 and a Jan. 28 court date was set.

Brooks was arrested Saturday while driving in North Las Vegas a little under two hours after police were called and witnesses corroborated the reported threat.

Police haven't identified the lawmaker who reported the threat. But Assembly Democratic Majority Leader William Horne tells The Associated Press that he and Assembly Democratic Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick were assigned security protection because of it.
