Dip, Dive and Dodge for Think-Art

LAS VEGAS -- A group in Las Vegas is helping support the arts in an unusual way. Leaders of Think-Art! said Sunday that a grade school tradition -- dodgeball -- is their only fundraiser.

They hold the games every second Sunday of the month at the Longevity Sports Center. They say they usually have about 30 players and are trying to put together a tournament.

"It started out for fun, but as the game progressed the guys become adamantly wanting to win," said Dinh Chau-Kieckhafer the creative Director of ThinkArt!.

Chau-Kieckhafer says after functioning without a budget for a year and a half, dodgeball is saving her program. She says small donations from people who play helps provide local artists with a variety of free learning tools, and opportunities to be discovered.

"We don't charge them any entry fee in anything we do. Including art shows, art programs any education tools, we offer as well as film making."

Organizers say one free show they put on helped get a UNLV art student to be discovered. She was able to quit her job to focus on her real passion.
