UNLV Beats Air Force in Overtime

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- The Runnin' Rebels were able to hold off Air Force in overtime, 76-71, Saturday night.

Bryce Dejean-Jones hit a short baseline jumper with eleven seconds left in overtime to put No. 24 UNLV up 72-71, and the Runnin' Rebels survived a last second shot from the Falcons' Michael Lyons, to hold off an upset bid.

UNLV (14-3, 1-1) led by 8 at halftime, but nearly lost it at the end of regulation, as Mike Fitzgerald of Air Force (9-5, 1-1) missed a 3-point shot with three seconds left that would have broken a 62-62 tie.

Dejean-Jones had 8 points in overtime.   The Rebels also got another big night from freshman Anthony Bennett, who finished with 22 points and 16 rebounds.
