LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police have identified the man involved in a shootout with officers Sunday morning.

Brandon Joseph Ogonowski, 28, of Las Vegas has been booked in absentia on several charges, including attempted murder of a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting a police officer with deadly weapon.

According to police, officers noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in the 2100 block of Sunrise Avenue, which is near Eastern Avenue and Fremont Street, just after 4 a.m. Sunday.

When officers walked up to the vehicle, they recognized one of the people in the car as a suspect in a recent robbery attempt in which a victim was shot.

As the officers were removing the people from the car, the driver drove off. Police followed the car until it came to a stop a short distance away. When the car stopped, a male and female fled on foot in different directions.

More officers arrived on scene and were trying to take the suspects into custody. According to police, the male suspect, Ogonowski, fired multiple rounds from a handgun at officers.

One officer returned fire and shot Ogonowski. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition. No officers were injured in this shooting.

A female suspect has also been arrested. Police arrested 24-year-old Christina Harrington in connection with a robbery that happened in December. She is facing robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and grand larceny auto charges.

This investigation remains ongoing.
