LAS VEGAS -- A robbery suspect was shot by a Metro officer early Sunday Morning near Maryland Parkway and Bonanza Road.
Metro investigators say a suspicious vehicle was parked in the 2100 block of Sunrise Avenue near downtown. As officers approached the vehicle, they recognized one person as a suspect in a recent robbery attempt in which a victim was shot.
As the officers were removing the people, the vehicle fled the scene. A short pursuit followed where a male and female suspect fled on foot in different directions.
More officers arrived on scene and were attempting to take the suspects into custody, the male suspect fired multiple rounds from a handgun at officers. One officer returned fire and shot the man. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
No officers were injured in this shooting.
This investigation remains ongoing and the identity of the officer involved in this shooting will be released after 48 hours.
