Feds OK Nevada's Progress in Health Exchange - 8 News NOW

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- The federal government has given Nevada conditional approval to move ahead with implementing its Silver State Health Exchange program as called for under the health reform law.

In making the announcement Thursday, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Nevada is on track to begin taking enrollments in October.

Under the federal health care law states were required to set up insurance exchange programs to help people find coverage or the federal government would do it for them.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval proposed and state lawmakers approved setting up the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange during last year's legislative session.
