LAS VEGAS -- One woman is dead and another injured following a two-car crash on Flamingo Road in front of the Palms resort property.
The crash happened at the intersection of Flamingo and Wynn roads at 12:40 p.m. It is the first fatal crash of 2013.
Metro Police say a female driver driving a high rate of speed made a turn from Flamingo onto Wynn Road, into the Gold Coast parking lot. Police say she jumped a curb and went back onto Flamingo Road where she hit another car with a female driver. The first driver was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. The second driver was also transported to the hospital. Her condition is unknown.
Flamingo was closed to traffic for several hours as police investigated.
On New Year's Eve, three people were killed in two separate crashes in Henderson. A woman driving the wrong direction on the Boulder Highway hit a car killing the two people inside. The second crash also happened on Boulder Highway. Henderson Police say a Toyota entering the highway from a shopping center struck another vehicle killing a 92-year-old passenger.
The crash happened in front of the Palms resort.
