LAS VEGAS -- A traffic violation that started near Nellis Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue ended on U.S. 95 near Jones Boulevard with the suspect being shot.
The incident caused major traffic delays along U.S. 95 northbound on Monday morning. Jones Boulevard was also closed in both directions near the freeway for several hours.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said the chase started shortly after 3:30 a.m. NHP officers spiked the tires of the suspect vehicle near Jones and U.S. 95 stopping the vehicle pursuit.
The suspect then fled on foot and gunfire was exchanged. NHP says the suspect was shot and taken to UMC in critical condition. No troopers were hurt.
There was a female passenger in the vehicle and she was interviewed by police. This situation remains under investigation.
