Strip Road Closures Announced for New Year's Eve

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police announced road closures for New Year's Eve celebrations on the Las Vegas Strip and downtown Las Vegas.

Downtown/ Fremont Street Experience

5 p.m. – The Fremont Street Experience will close to the public.

6 p.m. – The Fremont Street Experience gates open for entertainment.

Las Vegas Strip Closures

(Note: Throughout the evening travel on Sahara Avenue, Russell Road, Desert Inn Road, Frank Sinatra Drive and Koval Lane will remain unrestricted. Harmon Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic on the west side of Las Vegas Boulevard.

5 p.m. – Nevada Highway Patrol to close the off-ramps from I-15 onto eastbound Tropicana Avenue, Flamingo Road and Spring Mountain Road.

5:45 p.m. – Metro Police will close all other streets, roads and alleys leading onto Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Russell Road.

6 p.m. – All streets, roads and alleys leading onto Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Russell Road will be complete with barricades in place.

6:15 p.m. -- Metro Traffic Officers to begin clearing all vehicular traffic off Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Russell Road.

6:30 p.m. -- Las Vegas Boulevard and inbound roads are closed to vehicle traffic.

6:30 p.m. -- All moving walkways, elevators and escalators leading to or crossing Las Vegas Boulevard will be shut off.

6;30 p.m. – Las Vegas Boulevard fully opens to pedestrian traffic.

12 a.m. - 12:15 a.m. -- Fireworks show takes place on Strip and Fremont Street.

Las Vegas Strip Reopening Information

About 12:15 a.m. -- All moving walkways, elevators and escalators leading to or crossing Las Vegas Boulevard will resume operation.

About 1:30 a.m. -- All celebrations normally subside. Barricade removal begins

About 2 a.m. -- Street sweepers begin clean up, working from south to north.

About 3:30 a.m. – Reopening of off ramps from I-15 onto eastbound Tropicana Avenue, Flamingo Road and Spring Mountain Road begins. All other streets, roads and alleys leading onto Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Russell Road will begin reopening.

Road closure times are approximate and subject to change without notice.
