Brothers Sentenced in Video Bullying Case

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- Two brothers seen in an online video beating another boy were sentenced Tuesday morning in Clark County Juvenile Court.

The 15-year-old will be sent to the Spring Mountain Juvenile Detention Center for an undetermined period of time. Judge William Voy said it would be up to a probation officer on when the teen would be released. The teen was already in trouble for violating his probation on another battery charge.

The 13-year-old was released from custody to return home but will remain on probation. Judge Voy ordered the boy to write an apology letter to the victim.

Police Make Arrests in Bullying Case

The two teens were arrested in November on battery charges after a video went viral showing the two attacking another teen.

The victim's mother said she was satisfied with the sentencing and hopes it serves as a reminder to parents to be aware of what their children might be doing.

"I think it's perfectly fair. They're children. Unfortunately, they just didn't do what they should have done," said Elaine Sams, victim's mother.

School police are still looking for other teens involved in the videotaping of the beating. They say those teens could face legal action.
