LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Authorities have identified a 28-year-old gunman who was shot and killed by tribal police officers trying to arrest him at the Moapa Paiute Travel Plaza off Interstate 15.

FBI Agent Patrick Turner said Monday that Marcus S. Lee had several court failure-to-appear warrants, and Moapa Tribal police Chief Kevin Moore says Lee had been sought for investigation of a report of shots fired Saturday on the Moapa River Indian Reservation.

Moore says officers tried using a Taser stun gun while scuffling with Lee shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday at the travel plaza about 30 miles north of Las Vegas.

The Taser had no effect and Lee refused officers' commands to drop his weapon before he was shot dead.

The FBI is investigating the case because it happened on the reservation.
