LAS VEGAS -- While parts of the Las Vegas valley saw rain Thursday, the mountains received snow.

A winter storm warning is in effect until Friday morning for the areas near Mt. Charleston.

According to the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort, by 11:30 Thursday morning they had received 4 inches of snow. More snow is expected overnight and into Friday morning.

"It is beautiful! I love it. Other than being cold, it is beautiful. I love it," Sherry Delancy from Florida said.

The snowstorm will bring visitors to the mountain. Businesses are expecting a busy weekend as Las Vegans enjoy a sight rarely seen on the valley floor.

Anyone planning to head up to enjoy the snow should remember there are safety requirements. State troopers are near the base of the mountain stopping anyone without snow chains or four-wheel drive from going up the mountain.
