LAS VEGAS -- Sufficient evidence is in place to move forward with murder charges against alleged killer Nathaniel Burkett, a Clark County District Court judge ruled Wednesday morning.
Judge Eric Goodman made the ruling at a preliminary hearing for Nathaniel Burkett, 62, who is alleged to have committed a pair of murders dating back as far as 1978. Metro Police linked Burkett to the cold case killings using DNA evidence.
Burkett was arrested in Mississippi and brought to Las Vegas. He is accused in the killings of Barbara Ann Cox in April 1978 and Tina Mitchell in February 1994. Police said Burkett could be a serial killer and might be responsible for other unsolved cases.
Burkett's next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 26.
