LAS VEGAS - The 16-year-old young man killed in a weekend car accident is Eddie Ruiz, the Clark County Coroner's Office said Monday.
Police say the teen was driving a 1994 Honda Civic near Jones Boulevard and Empire Circle. The Honda attempted to pass an SUV or minivan and struck the vehicle, causing the Honda to spin out of control.
The Honda struck a chain link fence and concrete wall. Ruiz and a teen passenger were transported to University Medical Center, where Ruiz died. The passenger sustained serious injuries.
Police say the SUV or minivan left the scene of the accident and is wanted for questioning. This is the 103rd fatal accident in Metro Police jurisdiction this year.
