LAS VEGAS -- Couples hoping to tie the knot on 12/12/12 are encouraged by the Clark County clerk to complete a marriage license pre-application before the big day.
"The Marriage License Bureau will probably be extremely busy Dec. 9, 10, 11 and 12 due to the likelihood of a large number of weddings planned for 12/12/12," Clerk Diana Alba said. "We will do what we can to avoid long lines, but couples can help too by completing a marriage license pre-application."
In anticipation of the date's popularity for couples, Alba also will have her Laughlin office open on Dec. 12 so couples there can get a marriage license on that day. The Laughlin branch office of the County Clerk at 101 Civic Way will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 12. The office is usually only open on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of every week.
The main Marriage License Bureau office is located in downtown Las Vegas, just three blocks south of the Fremont Street Experience. The office is at 201 E. Clark St., which is on the south side of the Regional Justice Center. The office is open from 8 a.m. to midnight every day, including holidays.
Tourists coming to Clark County to attend a wedding or get married spent an estimated $527 million on lodging, entertainment, dining and other non-gaming activities in Clark County in 2011.
