LAS VEGAS -- The two 11-year-old boys who were arrested and charged in the killing deaths of several kittens were sentenced in family court Tuesday.
The boys were arrested on animal cruelty charges after neighbors told police they saw the two juveniles throwing rocks against a building Oct. 9 in the 9600 block of W. Russell Road.
It was later discovered the boys were throwing the rocks at a cat giving birth. Animal Control officers took the kittens to an animal hospital but none survived their injuries.
The boys, who are not being identified because of their age, were sentenced to 12 months of probation, 30 days of which was suspended as time served.
The boys were also sentenced to 80 hours of community service and a home management program that will require them to continue wearing a GPS monitoring system.
The boys are expected back in court Dec. 2, 2013 for a status check hearing.
