LAS VEGAS -- A 75-year-old pedestrian has been taken to University Medical Center with life threatening injuries Monday afternoon.
According to Metro Police, the pedestrian, identified as Phillip Marchant, was hit by a car just after 1 p.m. near the intersection of Palomino Lane and S. Rancho Drive.
Marchant was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when the driver of the Kia Sorrento made a left turn during a green light into Marchant's path, hitting and dragging him underneath the car.
Marchant was under the car until help arrived.
The driver of the car was identified as Gilbert Waltens, 71, of Las Vegas.
The intersection was shut down during Metro's investigation.
