LAS VEGAS - Saturday night, Metro Police Officers were in pursuit of a shooting suspect that they believed was gang related.
The units in pursuit along with witnesses says the officers had a green light when they crossed the intersection of Decatur and Meadows.
Police say a Jeep going west ran a red light and t-boned the patrol car.
The car was so damaged, the door had to be cut off to get the sergeant out.
The sergeant was taken to UMC Trauma with chest pains and a few broken ribs.
Shortly after the accident, the pursuit was called off.
Metro says the officer was riding with sirens and lights at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Jeep wasn't injured.
Officers are still investigating and have not issued any citations as of yet.
They did manage to detain one suspect vehicle they believe was involved in the shooting.
