LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas man is being charged with murder in connection with the beating death of his father.
According to police, 32-year-old Richard Heron, Jr. got into a fight with is father, Richard Heron, Sr., on November 18 and hit him with a baseball bat. The suspect told police that his father hit him with the bat first, then he grabbed it and hit his father.
Heron, Sr.'s body was found Monday in his condo at Torrey Pines Road and Lake Mead Boulevard after the suspect texted the mother of his son about the crime. She went to the area, found a Metro Police patrol unit and told the officer about the message she had received.
The suspect was arrested in Sheridan, Arkansas. He left the Las Vegas valley a day after police say his father was killed. He is waiting for the extradition process to be brought back to Las Vegas to face charges.
