LAS VEGAS - Thousands of Las Vegas students are spreading holiday love to soldiers stationed around the world.
Ten thousand kids – ranging from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade - designed cards and wrote letters to soldiers.
CT Sewell Elementary School is hosting a presentation ceremony Tuesday morning that will include a student representative from all 24 Clark County Schools that participated in the effort. State Senator Joe Hardy and a handful of soldiers are also expected to attend.
The letters will be put in a big box and shipped overseas. The program started last year when Darla Pellersels, the mother of a Henderson third-grader, thought to send praise to soldiers overseas.
"Last year, I saw some say, 'Please say hi to my uncle. He's over there fighting.' ‘Please hi to my dad. I miss him very much,'" Pellersels said. "Two kids, they were hilarious. They had one letter that was, 'How to ejector seats work?'"
She says she wants to expand the program next year to all Clark County schools - hoping they get 25,000 letters to send off.
