Hotels Offering Cyber Monday Deals

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- Retail experts expect Cyber Monday to be the busiest online shopping day of the year. Major retailers from clothing to electronics are offering special deals.

Las Vegas area hotels and casinos are also trying to get their share of Cyber Monday dollars with some great deals of their own.

Station Casinos is offering up to 50 percent off rooms at their properties.

Many other hotels and casinos are matching that or offering other incentives.

Las Vegans and tourists alike said the deals hotels are putting out on Cyber Monday are tough to beat.

"We come bowling, go to the movies, my wife likes to gamble," said Mike Minor, who has lived in Las Vegas for 20 years. "I think it's a great idea."

Visiting from Boston, Will Pryor said that despite the poor economy, people still want to enjoy themselves.

"The economy is bad and people still want to go on vacations," he said. "One of the things they dread is spending a lot of money on hotel rooms. You know, getting someone to come in for 30, 40 bucks, they're still going to spend money on the shops and the restaurants. I think it's a great idea."

Station Casinos and Las Vegas Strip property Treasure Island participated for the first time last year. Company representatives said they expect this year to be even bigger.

"We saw a lot of popularity with our hotel packages and we wanted to bring that back," Station spokeswoman Lori Nelson said. "Our guests have been asking us if they were going to return. And we're really pleased. It's a great value to get up to 50 percent off."

Added Treasure Island spokeswoman Michelle Knoll, "We said last year, ‘Let's try something with the spa,' knowing people will be in front of their computers, buying gifts, and of course buying for themselves. It worked out spectacularly."

Many other hotels and casinos are participating in Cyber Monday. The Hard Rock is offering rooms as low as $35 and Caesars Entertainment is offering between 20 and 40 percent off its room rates.

Minor said he might not be able to resist the deals.

"It's so nice to stay at the place you want to play at, so you can just go upstairs in the room," he said. "If you want to go around town, it's easy to catch a cab. It's so nice and convenient because of that."
