LAS VEGAS -- Three-hundred families will have a Thanksgiving dinner this year thanks to several community groups.
Volunteers got together to pack up bags of food into vans Sunday.
Third-grader Tate Mulliner and his older sister Megan helped with the bags filled with cans of vegetables, corn bread, and stuffing.
"It makes me feel kind of good to help them," said Tate. "Help them know that someone cares about them, because they're giving them food for Thanksgiving."
WRRP Inc. teamed up with several sponsors including cannery casinos, the Village Christian Community Church, and Walmart to make the whole thing possible.
The meals will be passed out at Whitney and Ruby Thomas elementary schools Monday and Tuesday.
"We have 150 families from each school. We also have a third school that's begging us for help," said Ilene Mann Director of Fund Development at WRRP. "We got more than we needed over the last few days so we'll do this for the third school too."
Tate says he hopes the food will bring families to the table. So they can experience what Thanksgiving is all about.
"Mostly about coming together as a family and thanking people," said Tate.
Also in each bag is a little wooden car donated by Toys 4 Smiles.
