Nev. Average Wages Rebound From Recession Depths

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- State officials said Nevada wages have rebounded some from the depths of the recession.

Officials with the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation said the average weekly wage was $830 in the first half of 2012.

That's 2.6 percent up from the same time in 2011, when the average weekly wage was $809.

The average wage fell in both 2009 and 2010 before recovering modestly.

State economist Bill Anderson said Nevada is on pace to set an all-time average weekly wage high this year, passing up the $829 figure from 2011.

But when adjusted for inflation, he says the wage growth is virtually flat. He points out that the Consumer Price Index rose about 2.4 percent during the first half of 2012, compared with the same period in 2011.
